Mike Freiberg, staff attorney with the Tobacco Law Center, provides technical support to communities in Minnesota that are considering smoke-free policies. Starting in 1999, Mike worked for a Member of Congress as a Legislative Assistant specializing in health care. He was elected to the Golden Valley City Council in 2003. In this position, he helped craft the city’s strong secondhand smoke ordinance that was adopted in 2004. Mike has also worked as a Committee Administrator in the Minnesota Senate and as a law clerk for the firm of Mansfield, Tanick and Cohen.
